2021 Year in Review

Looking back at 2021 and forward to a great 2022!

Over the last year the Spring Harbor Community came together in so many positive ways. While the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic brought about significant changes and stresses to our daily lives, there were some bright spots. And now, we have so much to look forward to in 2022.

As this New Year gets underway, we'd like to reaffirm that safety is our number one priority here on campus. We’re committed to residents and their families with our exceptional COVID Management and Safety Protocols.  

We’d like to highlight some events and measures put in place last year in each of the departments, which will continue to positively impact the community in the year ahead of us:

NEW ADMINISTRATION‍

We welcome Shane McDougall as the new Executive Director and look forward to the new Executive Directors Council and the role they will play. ‍

MARKETING‍

Spring Harbor received several Reader’s Choice Awards including:

• Reader’s Choice Award for Best Retirement Community
• Reader’s Choice Award for Best Personal Care
• Reader’s Choice Award for Best Nursing Home
• Reader’s Choice Award for Best Therapy Department with HealthPro Heritage‍

‍HEALTHCARE

• Outstanding Survey Results
• 5 Star Rated Healthcare Center
• Dr. Jamal’s Award of Distinction
• Established Resident Advocate Position
• IN2L (It’s Never Too Late Interactive Equipment) - Purchase for Memory Care Support Unit
• Bronze Quality Award for Outstanding Health Care Recognition

PLANT OPERATIONS

• Resurfaced Community Parking Lot
• Installation for Electric Car Utilization

DINING SERVICES

• Created Hospitality Manager Position
• Created Resident Dining Engagement Director
• Established Relationship with upscale “FOREFRONT DINING”
• Renovated BISTRO Casual Dining Area
• Full Time Registered Dietician on Site
• Private tours are still available by appointment and allows outside dining for those who want to sample some of our Chef Inspired meals!

RESIDENT SERVICES

• Offered a mobile beer and wine cart for happy hour deliveries during COVID
• Celebrated Thanksgiving with a new Friendsgiving event in November
• Made custom art/ activity packets delivered during periods of isolation
• Created College Football competition sheets

ACCOUNTING‍

Excellent Stewardship with COVID Reimbursement Funds

THERAPY SERVICES‍

Current PT’s became Telehealth certified, and the whole team will be Telehealth certified in early 2022.

Although Omicron raises some genuine concerns these days, we know that with our safety protocols in place Spring Harbor will remain among the safest places to live and work in 2022. With all the positive changes, new services and partnerships that we put in place last year, we can all look forward to a wonderful new year.
